AUCELANDER HONOURED

AVIATION GIFT RECOGNISED Because of his action in presenting the Women's International Association of Aeronautics, of Beverley Hills, California, with a replica of the bronze bust of tho late Air-Commodore Sir Charles Kingsford Smith, which he presented to the Canterbury Aero Club, Mr. Hewitt Edwards, of Auckland, bus been appointed a patron of the association. The honour has also been held by Sir Charles Kingsford Smith and the late Field-Marshal Viscount Allenby. - Mr. Edwards was a member of the Canterbury Aero Club for nine years, and about two years ago presented to the club a bust made by Mr. Lvall Williams, of Sydney. It was mounted on marble and backed by two broken pillars, with a replica of tho famous monoplane Southern Cross. The likeness was an excellent one of Sir Charles in flying costume, and the bust was inscribed "Smithy."
