Courtcraft is to have his first race, in Australia at the Rosehill meeting on September 18. Homily covered three furlongs in 375, the first furlong taking 12 1-os. Francis Drake ran five furlongs, but, after running two in 23 l-5s and three in 36 2-ss, he appeared to be stopping, to complete in 1.4. They leave for Trentham on Wednesday, sailing on Friday. Scarf Dance and Rehearsal were companions over three furlongs in 38s, taking 25s for the last two. Scarf Dance had her trainer in the saddle and she went very well, while Rehearsal finished straight and appeared to relish his task. Icing and Relative, with light-weights up, took 1.2 4-5 for five furlongs and 24 4-5s for the first quarter. Icing finished well clear, but Relative's was a good performance. Amatory finished four lengths ahead of All Spirit and Middle over six furlongs in 1.17 2-5, the last four in 535, but Middle was slow to move out and gava the other pair several lengths. Master Norval strode round at a steady pace to register 1.51 for a mile. Baron Bold, on the No. 1 track, took 37 2-5s for three furlongs, the first in 12 2-ss. He is fairly well forward. Imposture finished three lengths ahead of Entail at the end of six furlongs in 1.17, the first two in 25s and four in 50s. W. Rayner was on Entail, who is still liable to "climb" when he gallops. Tho two-year-olds Amigo and Toaiti went three furlongs together in 37 l-ss, the former pleasing more. The Grand Knight—Civility mare, who has been named Civil, hit out freely on the No. 2 track, but was not timed. Minga (Raynor) and Fabric (a light-woight) took 37s for three furlongs,

Del Mar is close to San Diego, and the promoters of the club were the cinema performers, Bing Crosby and Pat O'Brien. There will be a season of 25 days' racing, with eight races each day, and, although the horses in that State are not considered high-class, compared with those in Kentucky, New York and Illinois, the prizes range from 1500 dollars for the chief event to 500 dollars for the "hacks."
