JAPAN'S THREAT
SOVIET CONSULATE SIGNALLING ALLEGATIONS RUSSIA'S EMPHATIC DENIAL By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received August 27, 7.5 p.m.) LONDON. August 127 The Moscow correspondent of the Daily Telegraph says the Japanese have threatened to bombard the Soviet Consulate at Shanghai "unless signals from it to the Chinese, by flashlight, cease immediately." The Soviet authorities assert that the allegations of signalling are "an absolute invention," because the building was evacuated several days ago. They believe that the Japanese command is merely seeking an excuse to demolish the Consulate, and they warn Japan that she will bo held responsible if tho building is damaged.
