AUCKLAND CHAMPIONSHIP FIRST SESSION OF FINAL The first session of the final of the Auckland Provincial Amateur Billiards championships for the Billiards, Limited, Shield was commenced last evening at Messrs. Billiards, Limited, showrooms. R. Carrick, Auckland cham-pion,-was opposed by L. F. W. Holdsworth. Carrick had the better of the play and finished with a useful lead of 81 points. • The final session will be played this evening. Carrick quickly found touch and registered a neat effort of 35, Holdsworth replying with 27. An artistic run of 50 was Carrick's next break of note. He followed this up with a further break of 36. He had the run of tho play up to this stage and gained a useful lead. Holdsworth added a run of 25. Both played consistently and not many scoring chances were missed. Carrick had a good lead at the half-way mark. A neat effort of 35 by Carrick gained him further advantage. Holdsworth, however, registered two breaks over the twenty mark. The Bcoro at this stage was 300 to 211 in favour of Carrick. Holdsworth made up some of the leeway over tho filial stages, but Carrick holds a useful lead. The session scores arc:—R. Carrick, 500 in play (breaks, 35, 50, 22, 32, 31, 35, 27, 35, 24 and 37). L. F. W. Holdsworth, 410 (breaks, 27, 25, 20, 25, 21, 23, 20, 20 and 20).
