INFECTIOUS DISEASES
NOTIFICATIONS Cases of' infectious diseases notified to the Health Department from the Auckland central health district during July totalled 51, compared with 59 in June. Eleven cases of .diphtheria and wo of scarlet fever were reported last rponth, in additidn to two of enteric j ev er, nine of pulmonary tuberculosis, lour of poliomyelitis, 11 of erysipelas, three of ordinary puerperal fever, seven °' puerperal fever following abortion or miscarriage, one of hydatids and one °f lethargic encephalitis. 1 h a mes-'J'auranga health district there were only seven notifications |ast month, compared with eight in June. These included one case each of diphtheria, enteric lever, pulmonary tuberculosis, eclampsia and hydatids, a hd two cases of poliomyelitis.
