DIET REFORMS
SCHOOL HOSTEL EXPERIMENT appreciation expressed "I think it would be quite premature for the board to take the view that this improvement at Mount Albert was the result of the change in diet, saicl Dr. E. Robert on at a meeting ot the Auckland Grammar School Board of Governors, following a suggestion by Mr. C; R. Mtinro that the board should express its appreciation of the dietary reforms being carried out at the Mount Albert Grammar School hostel by the matron and sub-matron. "I would like to draw Dr. Roberton's attention to the fact that these changes in diet were made last year and they have been in force _ for two terras," said the chairman. Sir Algernon Thomas. The matron had written to the board to explain the steps she had taken because there had been a lot of discussion' in the newspapers about the diet at other boarding schools. ' Dr. Roberton agreed that the matron should be commehded for the changes she had introduced, but he thought the board should be careful of the opinions it expressed. "I think the most superficial inquiries will show that in our matron and sub-matron/ the latter in particular, we have two officers very well equipped in the matter of dietary," said Mr. A, S. Richards, M.P. "They have Rone much further than they needed to Ro in the course of their duties and 1 think the lerist the board can do is to express its appreciation." Dr. Roberton moved that the board Should express its appreciation to the Matron and sub-matron for the work ttfey had done in reforming the diet at the hostel. This was carried. *
