Sir Clutha Mackenzie, director of the New Zealand Institute for the Blind, left for Wellington by the limited ex- r press last night. He was accompanied by Lady Mackenzie. Mr. It. J. McGill, M.8., Dunedin, formerly of the Auckland Hospital, has been appointed house physician to the Dean of Brompton Hospital for Diseases of the Chest, London. Professor A. H. To.cker, professor of economics at Canterbury University College, who has been giving evidence at the Arbitration Court standard wage inquiry, left by tho limited express last night "on his return to Christchurch. Mr. J. A. West, manager of the Dargaville branch of the National Bank of New Zealand, has received notice of his promotion to the managership of the Palmerston North branch. Mr. West, who joined the bank's service in Auckland, was appointed manager of the Whangarei branch in 1952, and in November, 19.32. took charge of the Dargaville branch. Mr. C. R. Mazengarb, manager of the Mosgiel branch, is being transferred to Dargaville to succeed Mr. West.
