SKI CHAMPIONSHIPS
RUAPEHU CLUB CONTESTS WOMEN'S EVENTS DECIDED [BV TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] THE CHATEAU, Thursday The championships of the Ruapehu Ski Club were commenced at National Park to-day, good snow conditions prevailing. Although the weather lias been very, unfavourable for the past few days, it was brilliantly fine this morning. In the afternoon, however, snow commenced to fall on the higher levels and rain lower down. The women's slalom and novice downhill races wore decided to-day, tho course being sot close to the ski club hut, from which spectators had an excellent view of tho event. Results were as follows: Women's Slalom (best of two runs). —Miss D. McPherson, Palmerston North, 755, 1; Miss J. D. Harrison, Auckland, 775, 2; Miss E. Smith, Wellington, 88s, 3. Women's Novice Downhill Race.— Miss 11. E. Schmidt, Auckland, 1; Miss T. E. Hunter, To Awamutu, 2; Miss I. A. Rowo, Auckland, 3. The events to be decided to-morrow will be the men's slalom and downhill races and in addition the Tararua Ski Club is to commence its championships. On Saturday, events open to all comers will bo contested for trophies Scsented by tho management of the latoau.
