NOISE OF LOUD SPEAKER
A PERMIT CANCELLED, DECISION .. AT . NEWMARKET Following tho receipt of a letter from a resident s who complained. that the loud speaker installed near her premises had been the source of considerable annoyance, tho Newmarket Borough Council decided last night to cancel the permit for the use of the loud speaker. The Mayor, Mr. S. Donaldson, stated that permission had been given to the businessmen's organisation in Newmarket to use the loud speaker, for advertising, at the pleasure of the council. If it were causing annoyance it would be advisable to cancel the permit. Other members of the council spoke in support of the writer, who complained of the noise. One member suggested that the noise could be abated and it would not be necessary to cancel the permit, but it was finally decided unanimously to withdraw the, permit.
