SPENDING INTELLIGENTLY STATEMENT BY MR. SAVAGE [IJY TELEGRAM —OWN CORRESPONDENT ] WELLINGTON, Wednesday Commenting on the cablegram in reference to co-operation between Australia and New Zealand on defence reorganisation the Prime Minister, Mr. Savage, said to-day that as far as it was possible to do so New Zetfland was co-operating with Australia. "We have not waited for the return of Mr. Nash," he said. "We are going full blast in our reorganisation of the defence forces. Our objective is not to spend millions blindly, but to spend whatever we have to spend intelligently. 1 am not too sure that that has been done in tho past." Tho Prime Minister added that tho reference to a flight across the Tasman by the Poyal Australian Air Force was not altogether clear. However, nothing was likely to be done until all the defence proposals had boon considered in detail by the New Zealand Government.
