DECLINE IN BUILDING
EFFECT OF STATE SCHEMES "There is not the slightest doubtthat private building has practically ceased in most suburbs since the Government housing scheme began," said the Mayor of One Tree Hill, Mr. 1. .1. Goidstine, at a meeting of the Borough Council last night, when a decrease of HM0,715 in the value of building permits for the year to date, compared with the return for the corresponding period last year, was reported. The building inspector reported that between June 10 and July 2 a total of 11 building permits, representing £1554, had been issued. For the year to date, the council had issued 9:5 permits, representing £'18,872, against G8 permits worth £49,587, in the corresponding period last year, a decrease of £30,715.
