GREAT SOUTH ROAD
WIDENING PROPOSALS INTEREST OF MOTORISTS Information as to when the One Tree Hill Borough Council proposed to undertake the widening of the Great South Road between the tram terminus and the Penrose Bridge, was sought by the Automobile Association (Auckland). in a'letter received by the council last night. The council considered at the same time a letter from the district engineer of the Public Works Department referring to complaints made by the Passenger Transport Company, Limited, concerning dangerous portions of the road between tho tram terminus and Otahuhu. " We have had this matter before us and have had plans prepared," said the Mayor, Mr. 1. J. Goldstipe, " We came to the conclusion that without some assistance from the Main Highways Board we were unable to do anything. The district engineer of the Public Works Department has now given us an opportunity to meet him and discuss the matter.
The council agreed to endeavour to arrange a conference with the engineer
