CONTESTS ON SATURDAY MANUKAU AMATEUR CLUB J. BROWN'S DOUBLE SUCCESS A series of low-gear races was staged by the Manukau Amateur Cycle Club on Saturday, large fields competing. The seniors raced over 20 miles and the juniors over five miles. A feature of the senior event was the double success of J. Brown, who won the race and also returned fastest time. Fourteen faced the starter in the oVi-mile junior race over two laps of the course. Results:—K. Fish (2m), 18m 50s, 1; R. Gilmour (3m). 19s 58s, 2; C. White (2m 40s), 20m 17s, 3; A. Wallace (2m), 20m ISs, 4. D. Hills (scr) recorded fastest time in 18m 275. Eighteen started in the senior race of 10% miles over five laps of the circuit. Results:— S. Ward (2m), 47m. 1; M. LYNNDALE CLUB'S EVENTS A junior race of nine miles and a senior event of 18 miles were held by the Lynndale Amateur Cycling Club on Saturday. The results were as follows: — Seniors.—W. Grant (4m 455), 57m 6s, 1; G. Stewart (7m), 00m 15s, 2; G. Hughes (scr), 53m 17s, 3. Hughes returned fastest time. Juniors—F. Chitty (4m 15s), 30m 41s. 1; L. TAKAPUNA AMATEUR CLUB The Taltapuna Cycling Club held a 22 l / tmiles race on Saturday for the King Cup over the lake course. tA large field started and an easy victory was recorded by A. Fastest time was secured by E. Langridge (scr), 63m 3s. NORTHERN CLUB'S RACES Races for seniors and juniors were held by the Northern Amateur ' Cycle Club on Saturday. The senior ovent was of 20.8 miles, while the juniors raced over 10 miles. Following were the results:— Seniors.—A. Ivey (Sm 30s), 64m 375, 1; R. Cullen (3m), 59m 12s, 2; G. Webb (3m), 50m 13s, 3. SURREY CLUB Fifteen members of the Surrey Amatenr Cycling Club competed in a 17Y? miles road race on Saturday afternoon under adverse conditions. Results:—C. Evans (3m 455), 52m 15s, 1; H. Koos»che (4m). 53m 40s, 2; S. Wilson (2tn), 52m 3 ss, 3. Fastest time: A. Warnork (scr), 51 rn 40s. PAPATOETOE CLUB The Papatoetoe Amateur Athletic and Cycling Club held 13% miles senior and 6 3 /, miles junior races on Saturday. There were 15 riders in each case. Results:— Seniors. —F. Farrand (4in), 40m 475, 1; R. Hamilton (4m), 40m 50s. 2; G. Eyre (3m), 10m 12s, 3; W. Bayly (lm 30s), 39m Bs, 4. Fastest times: W. Bayly (lm 30s), N. Campbell (scr), 39m Bs. Juniors.—M. AUCKLAND LADIES' CLUB The Auckland Ladies' Cycle Club conducted a four-lap race on Saturday. Although there was a fairly strong head wind down the finishing straight, the times were good. Misses Little and Arrol started from the scratch mark. Results:—Miss N. Little, 12m 17s, 1; Miss L. Arrol, 13m 18s, 2. Miss Litllo made fastest time. BEACH HAVEN CLUB Two races were held by the Beach Haven Amateur Cycle Club on Saturday afternoon Tho senior race was to Albany and back, a distance of 21% miles, while the junior event was a four miles time trial. The senior racp resulted: —R. Elia (2m 30s), 59m 475, 1: J. Culpan (3m); 00m 17s, 2; B. Evans (3m 30s), 00m 535, 3. Fastest time was returned by the winner. The junior raco resulted in a win for R Chctwynd, llm 10s, while T. Atkinson, 12m 275, was second, and L. Reed, 12m 365. was third. Tho winner lowered the courgo record by 10s.
