MAORIS IN THE NORTH RESOLUTION AT AHIPARA„ [by telegraph—owx correspondent] KAITAIA, Thursday At a meeting of Maoris at Ahipara a speaker referred to recent press statements reflecting on the whole native people of North Auckland. He said that few people appreciated the true facts, as in southern parts of the country it was not generally known to which paVts the term "North" actually applied, and there was a tendency to group every Maori north of Whangarei under that heading. The following resolution was carried:—"That this meeting of Maoris resident in Ahipara protests against the unwarranted aspersions cast on the members of the native race living in the North Auckland area, and emphatically denies that the people are as a whole indolent, immoral, intemperate, thriftless and wasteful."
