ADULT PATIENT'S DEATH MORE CASES IN DUNEDIN [BY TELEGRAPH —OWN CORRESPONDENT] DUNEDIN, Sunday The third death from infantile paralysis occurred yesterday, the victim being a man aged 41 years. He was being treated in a private hospital. The paralysis attacked the patient's face, and eventually affected the brain, causing death. This is the first adult case of which the Health Department has been notified. Returns indicate that the situation is easier. During the 21 hours ended at 9 a.m. yesterday, a positive case and two suspected cases were admitted to the Dunedin Hospital. The positive case was that of a baby, aged 10 months, a member of a family which travelled to Timaru by motor-car on Friday. The family comprised the two parents, a boy aged four and the baby, who was examined by a doctor on arrival. The doctor diagnosed a case of infantile paralysis, and reported the matter to the borough health inspector, who ordered the family to return home immediately. Two hours later they were on their way. The suspected cases, a boy aged five and a girl aged two, were put under observation but- proved not to have contracted the disease. Since Saturday morning two further cases have been admitted. A girl of four years has bec-n classed as a positive c,lse and a girl of 15 is under observation.
