Mr. W. A. Boucher arrived from the South by train on Saturday. Sir George Elliot returned from the south by train on Saturday morning. Mr. C. M. Ricliwhite returned from the south by train on Saturday morn ing. " Mr. W. Goodfellow was a passenger from Wellington by train on Saturday morning. 3 The Hon. H. G. R. Mason, Minister of Justice, arrived from Wellington on Saturday morning. The Rer. Brother Tarcisius, director of Sacred Heart College, returned from the south on Saturday. Mr. H. J. Kelliher, a director of the Bank of New Zealand, returned from Wellington by train on Saturday. Mr. J. A. Lee, M.P., Parliamentary Under-Secretary to thi Minister of Finance, left for Wellington by the limited express last evening. The Rev. E. Bird, formerly of the Royal Air Force, England, will sail from England this month to join the staff of St. Peter's Cathedral, Hamilton. Mr. J. W. Heenan, Permanent Under-Secretary to the Department of Internal Affairs, was a passenger by the limite'd express from Wellington on Saturday. «gf v 0 '' v Rear-Admiral the Hon. E. R. Drummond, commodore of the New Zealand Division of the Royal Navy, returned from the south by the limited express on Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Eric Riddiford, of Wellington, arrived by the Rangitane from Wellington yesterday and are at the Grand Hotel. They expect to leave for Rotorua to-morrow. Mr. N. S. Falla, chairman of directors of tlbe Union Steam Ship Company of New Zealand, Limited, arrived by train from Wellington on Saturday ana left agaiia last evening. Dr. D, L. Freeman, who has been on the Fields Division of the Department of Agriculture at Nelson for some years, has been transferred to tlj Wellington head office staff. •
Dr. Walter Mohr, of Kiel, University, a German expert in dairy science, has returned from North Auckland, and will leave this morning for the south. He is at the Hotel Cargen. Mr. W. P. Endean, Mr. W. T. Anderton, Mr. W. J. Lyon, Mr. F. W. Schramm and Mr. A. S. Richards, M.P.'s, and the Hons. B. Martin and F. E. Lark, M.L.C.'s, arrived from ' Wellington by train on Saturday morn- • ing. Mr. John Morgan, agricultural editor of the Daily Herald, London, spent the-week-end in the Waikato. He visited the Waikato Land Settlement Society's area at Karakiriki and Bryant House, Raglan. He later inspected Ruakura. Mr. Morgan will leave Hamilton to-day ~ for Matamata and Rotorua. _____ Captain F. G. McDonald has been appointed by the Otago Harbour Board as chieif pilot in place of Captain F. J. Duncan, who has retired on superannuation. Coptain J. E. Page has been appointed second pilot and Captain J. A. Moloney has been selected .
to fill the new position of junior pilot and piermaster at Dunedin.
