OLD SCHOOL SITE
j PROPERTY AT PARNELL OFFERED AS GIFT TO CITY The gift to the City of Auckland of the old Parnell School site, for conversion into a children's playing area, has been offered by the Minister of Education, the Hon. P. Fraser. In making this announcement at a meeting of the City Council last night, the Mayor, Mr. Ernest Davis, said the offer was made by the Minister when he and Mr. W. T. Anderton, M.P.' and the Hon. F. E. Lark. HI.L.C., were interviewing him in Wellington on another matter. Mr. Davis said he had thanked the Minister, and he had asked the city engineer, Mr. J. Tyler, to furnish a report on the proposal, ft was proposed to inspect the site at an early date so that a definite conclusion for submission to the Minister could be reached. The city valuer's estimate of the value of the site was £8615. The report was received.
