RUGBY FOOTBALL MATCHES FOR CHARITY POLICE TEAMS TO MEET AUCKLAND AND WELLINGTON Strong opposition will be provided for the Auckland police Rugby football team at Eden Park to-morrow, when it will play the Wellington police fifteen for the New Zealand Police Rugby Challenge Cup, presented by four business men in Wellington. Proceeds will b« devoted to the Crippled Children's Fund. E. Barry, a member of the 1932 and 1034 All Black teams which visited Australia, is included in tho Wellington team, which also contains several intcr-provincial players. The Auckland sido accounted for tho South Auckland B representative side and won the midweek competition for tho Kohn Cup. An exciting game is anticipated. Teams representing the commercial travellers and warehousemen and tho Auckland theatre staffs will provide a curtain-raiser. CONTESTS IN COUNTRY The following resultsi of Rugby football matches played in country centres of the Auckland Province on Saturday have been forwarded by correspondents of the Herald: — Hclensville. —Weather and ground conditions were poor for the final club games played under tho control of tho Kaipara Rugby Union. A north-westerly gale and heavy rain prevented open play. In the senior grade final for the Cheshire Cup, Parakai, with a try by M. McLeod and an obstruction try, beat Kaukapakapa, with a try by Bere. Woodhill, 15, had a clear win from Kaukapakapa, t>, in a junior grado match for tho Primmer Cup. Kaikohe.—The Bay of Islands Rugby Union's senior competition was concluded when Otiria defeated Ohaeawai by 20 points to O. Otiria has played consistently throughout the season, and its victory was well merited. The championship points are:—Otiria, 20; Ohaeawai, 22; Moerewa, 15; Okaihau, 15; Tung Oil, 12; Oromahoe, 8; Kaikohe, 7: Kerikcri, 1. Thames.—A surprise win in Rugby matches on Saturday was that secured by Thames Physical Training juniors over the Morrinsville Terriers. The score was 10 points to 3. Taupiri.—Ngaruawahia and Kainui met on the latter's ground and played a drawn game in the final round of the Rugby competition. In the first half the visitors gained much graund by. dribbling and led by .a try and a penalty kick at half-time to 0. In the second spell Ngaruawahia was successful with another penalty goal before the home team settled down. Two tries and a penalty groal came in quick succession to Kainui, making the score 9-all. Hood and Engle were prominent in the visitors' forwards and Stubbing, Fowler and Mcßurney in the backs. For Kainui Landon, Rurtiney and Vincent, in the vanguard, and Pearse and Drinkwater, in the back division, were very reliable.
