SUBMISSION TO ITALY
ABYSSINIAN CHIEFTAINS WARNING TO REBELS LONDON, August 7 The Addis Ababa correspondent of the Daily Telegraph states that in the presence of Ras Seyouin, the Italian Viceroy in Ethiopia, Marshal Graziani, told a group of chieftains that Italy woidd bring peace, work and justice to the country, but would not spare rebels. He appealed finally to recalcitrant natives to capitulate, and warned them that the longer they held out the more terrible eventual Italian justice would be. Acts of submission were signed by the chieftains, who declared that they recognised no sovereign but King Victor Emmanuel of Italy. Jesus "Afework, ono of Haili Selassie's generals, signed his submission and told the chiefs that those who rebelled against Italy were enemies of their own country. He urged them to assist Marthai Graziani to pacify Abyssinia.
