BIG MARGIN FOR ROTORUA
VISITORS OUTCLASS TAKAPUNA Rotorua High School displayed much more polish than Takapuna Grammar School. Weak handling by the latter team's backs allowed Rotorua to get within striking distance. Ewart received from a scrum and, beating the defence, scored between the posts, lie converted the try himself. Meharr.v made a good run for Takapuna, but his pass went astray. The Rotorua backs handled well and lterghani would have scored but for being soundly tackled by Robertson. The attack swung to the other wing and Rogers was sent over. Ewart converted. At half-time, the score was: Rotorua, lo; Takapuna. o. Play reopened at a brisk pace. A clever duminV bv Meharr.v gave Takapuna hope, but Robertson, who accepted from him, was grounded. Shortly afterwards this player had to retire hurt. In the course of a Rotorua attack Rogers look the ball in loose play ami transferred to Christophers, who outpaced tho opposition and scored fairly wide out. Ewart missed with tho kick. The Rotorua backs smartly followed up the ball, bustling llall, and when it slipped out. of his hands Douglas fell on it for a try between the posts. Ewart goaled. Rotorua sustained pressure and a forward rush ended in I'earce being awarded a try. Ewart again goaled. A scrum having been set on the Takapuna lino, the ball was passed swiftlv among tho Rotorua rearguard as far as lirooker, who dashed across unchallenged. Christophers failed to convert. Not long nfterwards Hergham scored from another combined movement. Ewart converted and time was called, tho scoro being:—Rotorua High School, 31; Takapuna Grammar School, 0. Mr. V. Keefo was referee.
