SUPERIORITY OF FORWARDS
SACRED HEART DEFEATED The slightly superior strength of tho Mount Albort forwards aided considerably toward tho defeat of Sacred Heart. The first spell was evenly contested, attempts by the backs of both sides to open up play often being nullified by the fast-breaking forwards. However, good passing rushes were produced, and some of these were almost fruitful. Sacred Heart obtained three points through a penalty goal bv Owen, and led by this margin at half-time. Sacred Heart attacked from the moment play was resumed, but steady defence checked its passing rushes. The Mount Albert forwards broke away in a dribbling rush and when the ball was kicked ahead Oddy dived on it for a try. Kingstone could not convert. Very soon Owen again placed Sacred Heart in the lead with another penalty goal. The dribbling ability of the Mount Albert forwards payed the way for the team's next try, this being scored by Bothelson. Kingstone missed with the kick. The failure of Sacred Heart, players to fall oil the ball again allowed the opposing forwards to advance close to the line, whero Johnson seized the ball and ran over for a try. Kingstone converted. Sacred Heart fought back desperately and at last Stenibridge received from a scrum near tho line and scored. Owen's kick went wide. In the closing stages Sacred Heart tried hard to wipe off its deficit, but was unsuccessful, the game ending:—Mount Albert Grammar School, 11; Sacreil Heart College, 0. Mr. M. Paris was referee.
