KING EDWARD
BETROTHAL RUMOURS
INSURANCE RATE RISES
FORMER STORY DENIED By Telegraph—Presa Association—Copyright LONDON, July 1 Heavy insurances arc being taken out in the City against the chance of an announcement of the betrothal of the King before his Coronation, by which arrangements of thousands of tradespeople would be seriously affected. So strong is the rumour of a Royal betrothal that a rate of 30 guineas per cent has been taken out by one company, whereas three days ago the rate was 9 per cent. Lloyd's representative states that all insurance suggestions are carefully considered, and it must lie proved that an insuring party will definitely stand to lose if a certain occurrence takes place. Gambling merely for the sake of gambling will not bo allowed.
It was rumoured in London early in Juno that King Edward was to become engaged to Princess Alexandrina Louise, the youngest daughter of Prince Harald. brother of the King of Denmark. This rumour, however, was denied by Prince Harald. "The whole story is an invention
absolutely unfounded and untrue," said the Prince. "My daughter is not going to be engaged and there is no engagement and no wedding impending in my family."
