MR JORDAN'S WORK
RECOGNITION PROPOSED ELECTORS OF MANUKAU A public meeting was held at Onehunga last night to arrange that suitable recognition bo made of the services rendered by Mr. W. J. Jordan, M.P. for Manukau, to the electors of his constituency during the past 14 years. Mr. Jordan will leave New Zealand shortly to represent the Dominion on the Assembly of the League of Nations at Geneva, and subsequently to take over the post of High Commissioner for New in London. As tho convener of the meeting, the Mayor of Oneliunga, Mr. J. Park, said the suggested movement was not a question of party politics, because Mr. Jordan had worked conscientiously for all parties and interests. The Mayor of One 'lreo Hill, Mr. 1. J. Goldstine, and tho chairman of the Mount Roskill Itoad Board, Mr. C. M. McCullough, had both signified their desire to cooperate in giving Mr. Jordan an appropriate testimonial. It was agreed that the movement should embrace all parts of the Manukau electorate, and it was decided that a civic farewell should be accorded to Mr. Jordan in Onehunga on a date to to be arranged. A decision was reached that part of the tribute to Mr. Jordan should be an illuminated address, and that the co-operation of all local authorities in the district be invited. The following committee was elected, with power to add: —Mr. J. Park, chairman, Mr. N. L. Norman, secretary, Mr. E. J. Higgins, treasurer, Mcsdamcs W. Pickering and N. S. Benfell, and Messrs. J. S. Montgomerie, A. A. Coates, L. C. McClintock, W. Martin, J. E. Green and T. H. Geraghty.
