DANCE AT BROWN'S BAY

The Brown's Bay Cabaret presented a gay scene on Saturday night, when the Brown's Bay and Districts Returned Soldiers' Club held a military ball, at which they entertained the Ist Company, N.Z. Field Engineers, who wore camping in the district. There was a very large attendance and the cabaret was gaily decorated with flags and large copies of Bruce Bairnsfather's cartoons. The coloured spotlights placed around the walls created a very bright efFect. The club patron, Mr. Rennie. and the president, Mr. Mitchell, welcomed the officers and men, as well as representatives of various clubs. Captain Busch responded. Messrs. Mitchell and Simmons were in charge of the floor arrangements. The committee comprised:—Messrs. Mitchell, Bartels, Armitage, Simmons, Bardwell, Chambers, Mephan, Wilson and Quinn.
