SUMMER CRUISES

UNION COMPANY'S PLANS A larger number of excursion cruises for next summer is announced by the Union Company. One cruise from Auckland to northern bays will bo made during January by the new intercolonial liner Awatea, but the remainder of the trips will be mad© by the Maunganui, after she has been withdrawn from the transpacific passenger and mail service.

A fortnight's cruise from Sydney round the South Island will bo undertaken by tho Maunganui. She is to leave Sydney on December 2 and alter visiting Milford Sound, George Sound, Doubtful Sound, Dusky Sound, Stewart Island, Dunedin, Lyttolton, Queen Charlotte Sound and Pelorus Sound, she will return to Sydney on December 10. There will bo a similar cruise in January if tho bookings for the lirst one are sufficiently encouraging. The Maunganui will make a Christmas cruise from Auckland to Whangaroa. Jlay of Islands and Port Fitzroy, leaving Auckland on tho evening of December 24, and arriving back at Auckland on tho morning of December 28. Tho .Awatea will make a cruise from Auckland to the same places on January 19, arriving back on January 23. A cruise from Wellington to Milford Sound will bo made by the Maunganui, leaving Wellington on February 4 and returning to Wellington on February 8.
