The year's profit was £5494. The balance due to depositors way £775,734, an increase of £82,644 on the year previous. The number of depositors increased by over-1000, and deposits for the year were £459,859, an increase of £51,043, and were £62,305 in excess of withdrawals. The sum of £70,112 was advanced on new mortgages, of which over £50,000 was on broad acres. Although interest had been reduced, interest on investments was greater than in the previous year by £3505. The trustees decided to set aside the sum of £3OO for a second scholarship tenable by country children at the New Plymouth Boys' High School, and the scholarship No. 3, involving a further £3OO, was also authorised. The examination for this will be held in November next. The bank also decided to make the following donations: —Poppy Day, £SO; Y.W.C.A., £2O; Y.M.C.A.. £2O; Red Cross Society, £10; District Nurse Association, £10; St. John Ambulance, £10; To2 H, £10; Plunket Society, £25; War Graves Committee, £10: Sailors' Relief Work, £10; total, £175.
