THAMES ASSOCIATION [bt TELEGBAPH —OWN correspondent] THAMES, Wednesday The annual meeting of the Thames Returned Soldiers' Association was held last evening, there being a fair attendance. It was reported that th« membership had greatly increased, j The following officers were elected:— Patron, Mr. J. Thorn, M.P.; president, Mr. T. McCarroll; vice-president, Mr. G. Fisher; treasurer, Mr. W. B. Gilmore; auditor, Mr. A. G. T. Bryan; committee, Messrs. R. M. Rhodes, A. Brokenshire, C. Bunting, H. Charlton, G. Hawkins, W. Sparkes, A. Fleet, F. L. Gibson, P. Williams and H. W. Lloyd. In the course of a social hour following the members presented Mr. McCarroll with a gold-mounted fountain pen and pencil as a token of their appreciation of his work for the association. MANGONUI COUNTY GOOD FINANCIAL POSITION [by telegraph—own correspondent] KAITAIA, Wednesday lhe annual meeting of the Mangonui County Returned Soldiers' Association was held at Kaitaia, when there was an attendance of over 320 members. The report showed a credit balance of £lO2 and a financial membership of ]BB. The following officers were elected— President, Mr. W. F. Berry; vicepresident, Mr. E. Nilsson; secretary and treasurer, Mr. J. O'Sullivan; auditor, Mr. W. H. Atkins; solicitor, Mr. J. B. Reynolds; committee, Mangonui, the Far North and Herekino, representatives to be elected by the district sub-committees; Oruru and Peria, Mr. P. Frances; Fairburn's, Mr. B. Biggwither; Takahue, Mr. H. Sanders; Victoria Valley, Sir. W. Dawson; Ahipara, Mr. P. Braik; Awantii, Mr. J. Gill; Kaingaroa, Mr. P. Meenan; Kaitaia central executive, ; Messrs. L. A. Mcintosh, D. Mcintosh, G. Millar, J. Muir and E. Blackwood Moore. • The meeting reaffirmed a previous resolu.tion stressing the need for keeping Anzac Day qs a sacred day.
