CAMPAIGN AGAINST VICE
GANG LEADER ARRESTED MOVE BY NEW YORK POLICE NEW YORK. April 26 The campaign against vice, which is being carried out in New York under the direction of the special prosecutor, Mr. Lehmann Dewey, struck another blow at the underworld to-day when Charles ("Lucky") Luciano, reputed to be the city's chief gang leader, and 12 of his henchmen were indicted as the operators of a chain of disorderly houses within the metropolitan district. All are held in gaol under prohibitive bail amounting to 1,100,000 dollars. The indictments total 90, conviction on all of which would entail possible sentences ranging from ISO to 1800 years each.
