WIRELESS BEACON
ERECTION IN AUSTRALIA GUIDE FOR AIRMEN (Received April 28, 12.5 a.m.) SYDNEY, April 27 The first Australian wireless beacon for the guidance of airmen flying toward Sydney has been erected by Amalgamated Wireless, Limited, half a mile from Mascot aerodrome. The beacon radiates four beams with a range of between 100 and 200 miles, one radiating toward New Zealand. An aeroplane fitted with any type of receiver can pick up the beam and fly along it, and a continuous signal comes through while the aeroplane is on the correct course.
