BASKETBALL
PROGRESS AT WAIUKU The annual meeting of the Waiuku Basketball Association was attended by delegates from affiliated clubs. The president's report stated that it was gratifying to set the continued interest displayed in the game, this being evident from the increase in membership. There was an increase of over 50 players on tho total for tho previous year. During the seasyn four teams were entered in the A grade, which was found rather small for a tworounds competition. In the A grade the Otaua team won the cup, while Old Girls. Waiuku, wore runners-up. The large number of teams entered in the B grade made it possible to holt' only .one round of matches. It was suggested that three competitions be held, subject to tho number of teams entering this year. The competition was won by Pukekohe I. team, with Otaua runners-up. Representative matches during the season were held at Auckland and Hamilton. As a result of the basketball ball, held at the close of the season, the centre courts improvement fund would benefit to tho extent of about £2O. Last year there were insufficient referees, and it was most important for each club to co-operate with the management committee in obtaining the services of officials. The election of officors resulted _as follows:—President. Miss I. Park; vice-presi-dent, Miss G. Pleydell; honorary secretary. Miss S. Boyd, management committee. Misses L. Dunlop, M. Duthie, M. Boyce: honorary auditor, Mr. S. von Stunner. After some discussion it was resolved that the namo of the association should be changed from the Waiuku Basketball Association to the Franklin Basketball Association.
