DOG OWNER FINED
ANIMAL ALLOWED TO SUFFER [BT TELEGRAPH —FRESS ASSOCIATION] ASHBURTON, Sunday A case of an unusual nature was heard in the Police Court on Friday, when Arthur John Nicoll was charged with acting in a manner that had caused a dog unnecessary suffering. Tlio evidence for the prosecution was that the dog, a valuable stud animal, developed sores and became infested with fleas, and that defendant did not give the dog proper treatment or destroy it. The defence was that treatment was given immediately defendant knew of the dog's condition. Nicoll was fined £7 10s, and 2Ss costs.
