PRESENTATIONS

Presentations were made to the proprietors of the Wairakci Hotel, Mr. and Mrs. P. Kinninmont and Mr. Kinninniont, jun., last week on their departure for Rotorua. In making the presentations, Mr. J. P. Sheehan, on behalf of fellow publicans and the residents of Taupo, referred to Mr. and Mrs. Kinninmont's popularity in the district and wished them every success in their new position in Rotorua. A similar gathering took place in the evening, when further presentations were made. Among those present was Mrs. J. S. Grierson, who was the first proprietress of the Wairakei Hotel sii years ago. Mr. A. Graham, a son of Mrs. Grierson, handed a clock to Mr. and Mrs. Kinninmont and a shaving outfit to Mr. Kinninmont, jun., on behalf of the staff. Mr. Jack Tawera, head guide, also spoke of the friendly attitude of the management toward the staff. The new proprietors, Mr. and Mrs. Sleightholme, of Auckland, were welcomed. Mr. and Mrs. Kinninmont will leave for Rotorua shortly and will take over the Grand Hotel there.
