ASSAULT CHARGE

YOUNG MAN FINED KNIFE DRAWN BY CHINESE Charged with assaulting a Chinese, Juen Hing, at Panmure on April 11, Robert William Carter, aged 23, appeared before Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., in the Police Court on Friday. Mr. Hall Skelton, who appeared for accused, called evidence to show that Juen Hing had drawn a knife, but accused had grabbed the knife and thrown it away. In imposing a fine of £lO the magistrate warned accused of the seriousness of the offence. It was apparent that Hing was an excitable Chinese and he had drawn a knife when accused had annoyed him.
