CITY COUNCIL

MEETING NIGHT CHANGED FOUR MEMBERS IN PARLIAMENT The first meeting of the Auckland City Council under the new arrangement, by which meetings will in future be held on Monday nights, will bo held to-night. It has been the custom to hold the council meetings every third Thursday, but, as four members of the council have Parliamentary duties to attend to, it was decided at the meeting on April 2 to have the standing orders amended to provide for an alteration.

At tho meeting on April 2 it was pointed out that four members, the Hon. T. Bloodworth, the Hon. 15. Martin and tho Hon. F. E. Lark, as members of the Legislative Council, and Mr. W. T. Anderton, M.P. for Eden, were absent attending the Parliamentary session and would be inconvenienced if tho meeting; night was not altered. It was suggested that with four members absent, as they were likely to be while Parliament sat, the council was liable to find itself without a quorum. The change to Monday night was agreed to without dissent.
