STOCK RUINS FOOTPATH
INDIGNATION OF MAYOR WARNING AT DARGAVILLE [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] DARGAVILLE. Sunday Tho Dargavillo Borough Council is much perturbed at the neglect of stock drovers in allowing cattle to wander on footpaths. Inferring to a new footpath which lias been almost completely destroyed by trespass of stock for a distance of 20 chains, which will cost approximately £2O to repair, tho Mayor, Mr, F. A. Jones, said he was indignant at the lack of common senso shown by somo drovers in allowing cattlo to traverse footpaths to tho discomfort of pedestrians.
"While recognising the difficulties experienced in keeping stock within reasonable bounds," said Mr. Jones, "there is no justification for drovers allowing cattle to wander indiscriminately along footpaths. It is not only the cattle which cause damage. Horses also are being ridden on tho footpaths. The practice will have to stop or the matter will bo taken up seriously by tho borough council."
