A STARCH SUBSTITUTE
If on washing day it is discovered that the supply of starch has run out an excellent substitute will be found in ordinary flour or cornflour. Mix the flour in the same way as starch and it will be as effective as the genuine article. If the water in which rice is boiled is kept in a bottle it can always be used in an emergency, as it gives the right stiffness to many articles.
