HOME-MADE MASQUE
TO RENEW THE SKIN Some women prefer to make their masques at home, and there are practical packs that can be made up satisfactorily by women with sufficient leisure. The almond meal and egg mash is a favourite with many women who wish to keep their skins fine, soft and whito. This masque is nourishing to a dry skin as well as being bleaching. First of all cleanse the face and neck thoroughly, either with soap and water or with cold cream. To make the paste, add to the white of one new-laid egg a sufficient amount of almond meal to make a very thick paste. Thin out this paste with rosewater until you have a creamy consistency. Spread this paste over a layer of gauze large enough to cover the entire face and neck. Don't forget to cut holes in the gauze for the eyes, nose and mouth. Place a second layer of gauze over the almond meal, and you are then ready to press the masque into place over the face. Wring a towel out of very hot water as dry as possible, so that steam rather than hot water penetrates into the mixture. Repeat for fifteen minutes and then remove the masque and rinse the face with warm water. Now hold ten or twelve cold compresses to tho face in order to close the pores. Then massage a light nourishing cream into the skin. If this treatment is faithfully followed two or three nights a week, a marked improvement in tho skin will be noticeable after a couple of weeks.
