The subject was raised when the Minister of Internal Affairs, the Hon. W. E. Parry, moved that the names of Mr. EUmilton, Mr. S. G. Smith (Opposition—New Plymouth), Mr. H. 6. S. Kyle (Opposition—Riccarton) and MV. D. W. Coleman (Government—Gjsborne) should be substituted on the committee list for those of Mr. S. G. Holland (Opposition—Christchurch North), Mr. E. J. The Prime Minister, Mr. Savage: If there is any objection we will let th<» matter stand over. We will not waste time arguing

Mr. Parry explained that the change had been made to meet a request from the Opposition. Mr H. M. Rushworth (Country— Bay of Islands) asked whether the Independent members of the House were to be ruled by the wishes of the Opposition.

Mr. Kyle explained that the original nominees of the Opposition had been Mr. Hamilton, Mr. Smith and himself. Mr. Holland's name had been inadvertently included in the list and ifc was desired to rectify that error. Tho Opposition had had nothing to do with nominating Independent members. He asked for fair play, which he claimed he was not receiving. Mr. Kyle intimated at that stage that Mr.' Hamilton was willing to down in favour of Mr. Wright, and the motion as amended in that direction was carried.
