FAREWELL GATHERING

BIRKENHEAD DENTAL NURSE Miss M. H. J. Mulholland, who for the past four years has been the dental clinic nurse at Birkenhead, and prominent in the Girl Guide movement, was farewelled at a joint gathering of the Northcoto and Birkenhead mothers of children associated with the Birkenhead school dental clinic and the committee of the Girl Guides. The hostess was Mrs. A, E. Harding. An enjoyable programme included songs by Mrs. T. McKnight and Miss Winifred Johnson; pianoforte solos by Mrs. A. J. Hurley; violin solos by Miss Debenham, and elocutionary items by Mrs. A. Tremain. Competitions were won by Mrs. A. Tremain and Miss W. Johnson. The music for the dances was played by Mrs. H. E. Taylor. Supper was served by tho joint committee. Miss Shirley Speight handed a bouquet to Miss Mulholland, to whom the Mayoress of Northcote. I Mrs. R. Martin, presented a handsome glass and silver casserole dish, with the -names of the mothers contributing inscribed on a wide blue ribbon. The speaker conveyed the regret of the mpthers at the loss of the able and efficient services of Miss Mulholland, who had endeared herself to the children, and was held in high esteem. Reference to the good work performed by Miss Mulholland for tho Girl Guide movement, including tho duties of district secuptary, was made by Miss Winifred Johnson, who on behalf of the girl guides and committee presented the guest with a clock and a pair of silver serviette rings.
