Y.W.C.A. CONFERENCE
CONCLUDING DAYS The Y.W.C.A. conference at Waikanae was continued under ideal weather conditions and closed on Tuesday. "Fun Night" was a popular part of the weekend programme, short impromptu sketches being enacted by the various delegations. The service held on Sunday evening was a dramatic presentation of the youth of the world issuing a challenge to the Y.W.C.A. to present the Christian purpose through all its activities. The conference charge to the whole movement to break down barriers, change thinking and widen the reach of love was given by Miss J. Stevenson, national general secretary. Later in the evening a campfire was built at the Waikanae River, when each centre contributed its songs. Saturday's recreation was a tramp to the sea. Technical hours and sessions on "programme exchange" gave practical help. These were led by Miss E. Bennet, general secretary of Auckland (formerly associate general secretary, Melbourne), Miss Brodie, general secretary of Christchurch (recently membership secretary at central club, London), and Miss Jean Stevenson, national general secretary.
