PIAKO TOURNAMENT [bt telegraph—own correspondent] TE AROHA. Monday The Piako Tennis Association's annual tournament was started on the Te Aroha courts at the week-end, but bad weather interrupted play, which it was proposed to continue to-day. Further rain, however, prevented this. Results of finals played were:— Ladies' Singles.—Miss Hallen beat Miss Marshall, 9 —5. Ladies' Doubles.—Misses Luxton and May beat Misses D. and M. Marshall, 9—7. Progress results of urifinished sections were:— Men's Singles.—Semi-final: J. Burnett beat J' .George, 9—2; G. Hall beat W. Hallett. 9—7. Men's Doubles.—Semi-final: Barnett and Rowsell beat Wright and Payne. 9—5. Combined Doubles.—Earl and Miss Hallen bent Shirley and Miss Nola, 7—6; Payrie and Miss Payne beat Johansen and liiss Earl, 7—6: Lugion and Miss Carter beat Horn and Miss Horn, 7—6.
