WHANGAREI RURAL SCHOOLS [fhom our own correspondent] WHANGAREI, Monday The report and balance-sheet presented at the annual meeting of the Whangarei Rural Schools Football Association showed a satisfactory year's operations. Difficulty was experienced in the election of officers, both the president and the secretary, Mr. W. Hallett, intimating their inability to carry on, and no successors could be found. Eventually it was deoided to leave the appointment of president and secretary to the executive committee, which was constituted ae follows:—Mias Tarrant, Messrs. H. Horner, L. J. Broomfield, Reed, K. Hayr, W. Hallett and N. Johnson. It was decided to endeavour to form a North Auckland Schools' Rugby Union. THE CAMBRIDGE SEASON SEVEN-A-SIDE COMPETITION [from our own correspondent] CAMBRIDGE, Monday The Rugby season was opened in Cambridge on Saturday with a seven-a-sido tournament played at Victoria Square. Eleven teams participated and the results were as follows: Seniors.—Leamington defeated Hautapu, 8—0; Northern defeated United, 12—3. Final: Leamington defeated Northern, 12—5. Juniors.—Karapiro defeated Hautapu. 8—0; United defeated Maungatautari, 6—o; Northern defeated Pukerimu, B—o. Semi-final: Northern defeated United, B—s. Final: Karapiro defeated Northern, 16—0. Playing at Leamington the Frankton fourth grad« team defeated the United third grade team by 14 points to 6.
