HOME FOR ELDERLY LADIES

Sir, —May I be permitted through the columns of your paper to draw attention to what appears to me a sad lack of suitable homes for elderly ladies of moderate means—women who in many cases have lost their families and homes but who still wish to obtain a little comfort and companionship in the evening of their lives. From long experience I find it impossible to strike the happy medium between a nursing home and the ordinary boarding house. Tho former caters merely for invalids at high tariffs, while the latter, though more moderate in their charges, cannot give that quietness, kindliness and small personal attention so dearly required. Lonely Widow.
