SLIPPERY ROAD
OHAUPO TOWNSHIP AREA
EFFECT OF RECENT RAINS
[by telegraph—own correspondent] TE AWAMUTU. Monday
The heavy rains of the past weekend have left portions of the main south road between Hamilton and Te Awamutu in a slippery condition, and care should be taken by motorists in negotiating these parts. The worst spot is just beyond the Ohaupo township, where as a result of scarifying operations, the surface has been stirred into a thick mud.
Last evening and this morning several cars skidded into ditches at the side of the road, but the majority of them were able to get free under their own power.
Between Hamilton and Ohaupo the surface is good for the greater part, of the way. The contractors have made excellent progress with the tar-sealing and several more miles of permanent surfacing have been added since prior to Easter.
