PURCHASE FOR PUKEKOHE [from oert own coiiuksi'onuent| PUKEKOHE, Monday The annual meeting of the Pukekohe Fire Board was held to-day, the chairman, Mr. J Houtly, being re-elected. The Internal Affairs Department notithat Mr. G. C. Henderson bad been gazetted a member of the board'in place of Mr. H S. Malcolm, who had resigned. Hie board confirmed the action of the chairman and Mr. A. E. Moore in places an order for a new fire engine at a cost of £B6O. inclusive of sales tax and subject to'a customs rebate of £5. Ihs engine is to be a British-built eight-cylinder model and will be fitted ff itb a pump capable of delivering 400 SalJons a minute. A novel feature will P® an electric hot water heater built into the engine which will ensure that «e motor will be kept warm during £ol(I weather, thus ensuring an easy start Delivery is expected early in July. retaliates for the current financial year were adopted, tho estimated expenditure being £958. •
