THE MINING MARKET WAIHI INVESTMENT WEAK ADVANCE IN MARTHAS There was a quiet tone in the mining market on the Auckland Stock Exchange yesterday. LOANS CONVERSION PIAKO COUNTY SCHEME DECISION OF THE COUNCIL [by telegraph—OWN correspondent] IE AROHA, Monday Following prolonged negotiations finality regarding the conversion of loans totalling £314,810 was reached at today's meeting of the Piako County council. The total indebtedness has been divided into three proup3 of loans. No action is to be taken in respect of £39,590 held by State Advances Oflico as these loans will be repaid at the present maturity dates. The second group comprises £1143,170 and £19.837 held by the Public Trustee. Provision for the voluntary conversion of these debentures is to be extended and- the amounts converted to instalment loans which will redeem themselves at a new maturity date. In connection with £112,213 held by sundry debenture holders the county clerk is to proceed with the voluntary conversion of such proportion of the total a* individual debenture holders will consent to. At a later stage the council will consider what arrangements can be inadc with dissenting debenture holders if any.

NATIONAL INSURANCE DIVIDEND MAINTAINED [BY TELEGRAPH I'IIKSS ASSOCIATION] DUNEDIN, Monday The directors of ;tlio National Insurance Company of Now Zealand, Limited, have declared an unchanged interim dividend of 4d a share for the half-year ended March 31. It is payable on May 15.
