AUCKLAND UNIVERSITY

FUTURE COLLLEGE SITE SPECIAL MEETING ARRANGED The difficulties facing the policy committee of the Auckland University College Council in its discussions relating to a future college site were reported upon by Mr. H. G. Cousins at a meeting of the College Council yesterday. Mr. Cousins emphasised the need of some guidance from the council before the committee could consider making any recommendations.

Acting upon the suggestion of the committee the council decided to hold a special meeting on May 4 to discuss the whole position. A request from the professor of English, Professor W. A. Sewell, that the council should expend £l5O in ' order to provide permanent stage fittings for the College Hall was referred to the finance committee for consideration. The proposal involved the suggestion that the annual receipts from plays, which the English department proposed to produce each year, should be used for reimbursement of the expenditure. A letter was received from the Registrar, New Zealand University," stating that the executive committee had agreed to the proposal that students of mining and metallurgical subjects should be allowed to undertake their studies in the first and second years at Auckland University College and thereafter proceed to the University 0 f Otngo for the final year.
