LIFE ON AIRSHIP

AUSTRALIAN! TRAVELLER ENTHUSIASTIC COMMENT (Received April 12, 5.5 p.m.) PERTH. April 11 A resident of Perth yesterday received a message from Mrs. Lilian Vaile, a former resident of the city, who was a passenger on the airship Hindenburg on its transatlantic flight. Mrs. Vaile's greeting was sent by wireless from the airship and was picked up at a land station. After passing along the land lines the message finally reached Perth by submarine cable. A message from Friedrichshafen states that Mrs. Vaile in an interview said that life on the airship was a housewife's paradise owing to the absence of dirt and dust. "We washed through force of habit," said Mrs:. Vaile, " but were perfectly clean all the time. I needed none of my cleansing cream. The airship had adequate cupboard space and I could hang up all my frocks."

HINDENBURG'S ARRIVAL JOURNEY FROM BRAZIL TWO ENGINES DISABLED BERLIN. April 10 A message from Friedrichshafen says the airship Hindenburg arrived there safely from Brazil. There was widespread relief in Germany as the Zeppelin had been battling against storms since she crossed the equator. French warships in the Mediterranean had been ordered to help if the airship were forced down at sea. Bordeaux aerodrome was specially manned and illuminated. Le Bourget picked up a message from the Hindenburg early this morning stating that two of the four engines were disabled and that she was fighting strong headwinds. Attempts were being made to repair the engines in mid-air.
