DRAMATIC COUP
&ULEES OF MEXICO OPPONENTS DEPORTED EARLY MORNING ARRESTS By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright (Received April 12, 5,5 p.m.) MEXICO CITY. April 11 The Government and the President, General Cardenas, effected a dramatic surprise coup yesterday to get rid of the one man likely to ".hallenge the supreme authority of the existing regime. In the early, morning Federal troops and policemen arrested the former President, Senor Plutarco Cables, and unceremoniously bundled him into an aeroplane and deported him to the United States. Also deported wi th Senor Cables were three of his most powerful political henchmen, Senors Luis Morones, formerly Minister of Labour, Luis Leon, formerly Minister of the Interior, and Rafagl Ortega, formerly Governor of the State of Guanajuato.
Apparently the four men had received no warning of the impending coup, as all were found in their homes.
Officially it is stated that the deportations followed evidence implicating the four men in the railway wreck on April 6.
A cablegram from Vera Cruz on April 7 stated: —The wrecking of an express ti'ain bound from Vera Cruz to Mexico City, by the bombing of a bridge near Paso del .Macho, is feared to have resulted in 50 deaths when the train plunged into a deep ravine last night. A group of unknown men, believed to be rebels against the Government, is said to have been responsible for the bombing. Several important Mexican political figures were on board the train, including candidates for the impending elections of Governors.
