TRANSFER OF PLAYERS
LEAGUE FOOTBALL CODE t ABOLITION OF FEE: URGED [by telegraph—press association] • NEW PLYMOUTH. Friday The abolition of the £2OO transfer fee at present payable on the transfer of registered League football players between New Zealand, England, Australia and other countries, is being sought by the Taranaki League. The matter will be discussed at the meeting of the New Zealand body. As'the period for which the arrangement was intended to operate had almost expired, the Taranaki League suggested, in a resolution, at its annual meeting this week, that the New Zealand League should endeavour to arrange a further agreement with international leagues. The basis should the elimination of the transfer fee with the provision that only registered League players should be considered for transfer.
